Dr. Mohammad B. Rana meeting with the Ambassador of Denmark to Bangladesh to discuss the progress and policy implications of the CREATE project on inclusive circular apparel value chains.

CREATE Project leader Dr. Mohammad B. Rana met with the Ambassador of Denmark to Bangladesh on February 18, 2025, to brief him on the progress of the CREATE project, share key research findings, and discuss plans for a high-level stakeholder meeting aimed at disseminating knowledge on inclusive circular value chains in the apparel industry.
The discussion emphasized how circularity in the apparel sector can contribute not only to energy savings, resource efficiency, and economic competitiveness, but also to improving employee wellbeing, workers’ health, and social sustainability. These priorities are increasingly aligned with the sustainability agendas of Danish and broader European fashion companies moving towards more responsible production and sourcing practices. The meeting also highlighted the importance of translating research findings into policy actions through engagement with relevant stakeholders, in line with the objectives of the DANIDA-funded project. The Ambassador stressed that strengthening sustainability and circularity transitions is essential for maintaining the global competitiveness of Bangladesh’s apparel industry while ensuring broader benefits for the sector and the national economy.
